Virginia Renews SIS express™
State SIS Software Contract For A Second Year
Lakewood, NJ – March 10, 2011
- The Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) announced
today a renewal of the 2008 contract that selected Century
Consultants, Ltd.’s Star_Base SIS express™ as an approved
state-wide student information system (SIS) for school
divisions in Virginia. This renewal extends the contract
through June 15, 2012, allowing Century, an ASM Research
company, to continue to provide implementation, support,
training, data conversion, and project management for
the system in K-12 schools across the state.
Under the VITA contract, all Virginia divisions are able
to purchase Star_Base SIS express™ rapidly, rather than
individually undergoing the often lengthy and costly SIS
evaluation and procurement process. Additionally, the
contract ensures divisions receive superior software,
as all software approved by VITA has been thoroughly evaluated
by Virginia Department of Education personnel, as well
as an independent panel of technical advisors from various
Virginia school divisions.
Star_Base SIS express™ meets all Virginia state reporting
requirements and is currently in use at 27 Virginia divisions
with more than 655 schools, serving over 442,000 students.
The VITA contract will continue to increase Century’s
Virginia customer base, creating a strong user group and
driving Century toward our goal of becoming the premier
SIS provider in the state.
Mr. Bob Ginn, President of Century Consultants, Ltd. said
of this opportunity “We at Century continue to experience
an excellent acceptance of our offerings and product support
in Virginia. Our Star_Base® user group is very active
and this renewal will allow us to continue working to
increase the breadth of solutions available to support
them”.
