Century Graduates to Greater
Levels of Service in Virginia
Lakewood, NJ – November 3, 2009
– Century Consultants, Ltd. (Century), an ASM
Research company, has experienced extraordinary growth
in the last 12 months, increasing our Virginia customer
base from 16 to 23 divisions. The seven new customers
in Virginia include Alexandria City, Brunswick County,
Charlotte County, Greensville County, Hampton City, Louisa
County, and Montgomery County. Century’s premier student
information system, Star_Base School Suite®, now serves
approximately 507 school/program sites and more than 366,000
students in the state of Virginia.
This growth follows Century’s award of the Virginia Information
Technologies Agency (VITA) contract in July 2008. VITA
provides Virginia districts the opportunity to purchase
a student information system from a state-approved vendor.
Most of the seven new counties, with Century’s assistance,
implemented Star_Base® for the 2009-2010 school year;
the remaining few are in current implementation for 2010-2011.
Star_Base® School Suite offers a comprehensive web-based
student information system (SIS) tailored to meet the
needs of individual school districts. Star_Base® streamlines
and simplifies record keeping, as well as information
gathering and entry. As a fully online, centralized solution,
Star_Base® consolidates numerous data sources, increases
teacher productivity, improves data-driven decision making,
and provides minimal downtime of database servers during
regular business hours. Administrators, teachers, counselors,
parents, and students can access information anytime,
anywhere. Star_Base® affords educators and administrators
unprecedented power and ease of use in managing school
information.
Jane Lee of Greensville County Public Schools (GCPS) stated
that in their previous SIS, “Elementary school teachers
did not have an online grading system and had to keep
a grade book. Also, the grade book and report card systems
were not linked, so there was always an extra step that
teachers had to use to create student grades.” When asked
to comment on the contributing factors for GCPS choice
of Star_Base®, she responded “The ease with which the
system can be used. The reports that are included in the
system were a big selling point. The ‘live’ helpdesk was
another big factor. The fact that there was someone there
to help with a problem and that you don’t have to wait,
sometimes more than a day for help. The assistance with
the conversion of data was a big factor also.”
President Bob Ginn of Century Consultants, Ltd. said of
the expansion: “We at Century are very excited with the
acceptance of Star_Base® by the Virginia Divisions. Century
looks forward to a continued partnership with each of
our Virginia customers as we continue to work diligently
to improve our offerings to ensure we provide our customers
with the ability to handle the ever increasing demand
for quality and timely data that is needed to manage the
instructional processes.”

About Century Consultants
Since 1977 Century has been committed to providing educators

ultimate goal - finding better ways to teach children.
Century's student information management software removes
many of the instructional and administrative obstacles
that stand in the way of making that goal a reality. We
empower our customers with all of the necessary information
they require to make data-driven decisions. Century’s
Star_Base School Suite® SIS is Schools Interoperability
Framework (SIF) 1.5 and 2.0 compliant and is presently
