PEIMS submission a success
for Richardson Independent School District
and Century Consultants Star_Base School Suite™
"Century Consultants
worked diligently to accurately meet the comprehensive
Texas State reporting requirements. The time it takes
to extract the submission is much less than we expected."
September 27, 2007 - Richardson
Independent School District, (RISD) a Texas district,
outside Dallas, successfully completed its first year
of state reports using its newly customized student information
system Star_Base School Suite. RISD, a diverse district
of 35,000 students, is in partnership with Century Consultants
of Lakewood, NJ.
In 2005, Century's Star_Base School Suite was RISD's choice
for its new student information system. Century Consultants
and RISD worked as a team in order to provide the data
set in Star_Base School Suite to comprehensively support
the detailed Texas reporting requirements. The successful
Richardson PEIMS submission accounted for $246 million
dollars in attendance funding for the district.
In addition to statistics such as annual accountability
results and enrollments, RISD and Century collaborated
to enhance and expand Star_Base to include variables that
identify ‘at-risk' students. Examples include additions
such as: LEP proficiency, Retained status, Alternative
Placement, failures on early assessments, and social services
referrals. The PET data extract is already in place and
the TREx (Texas records exchange) is set for release.
The RISD/Century partnership has resulted not only in
an effective state reporting solution for the district,
but also an information system allowing school personnel
to implement data-driven decisions to assist with the
continuous improvement of teaching and learning. Reflecting
on this process over the past year, Annabel Garza, Executive
Director for Student Information and Reporting with RISD,
had this to say: "Century Consultants worked diligently
to accurately meet the comprehensive Texas State reporting
requirements. The time it takes to extract the submission
is much less than we expected."
